Using the Setup Assistant
Click each step to see the action, click the picture or use the arrow keys
The Setup Assistant will guide you through the setup process for your phone
- 1.
Press and hold the Power/Lock Key to turn the phone on
- 2.
If you would like to change the phone’s language, tap the current language
- 3.
Tap the language you would like to use
- 4.
Tap OK
- 5.
Tap the arrow to begin
- 6.
If you would like to connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap the status switch beside Off
- 7.
Tap the network you wish to join
- 8.
If the Wi-Fi network requires a password, enter it now and then tap Connect
- 9.
If you would like to learn about Wi-Fi Calling, tap Learn More. Otherwise, tap OK to return to the setup process
- 10.
Tap Next
- 11.
If you agree to the End User License Agreement and the Privacy Policy, tap I have read and agree to all of the above
- 12.
Tap Next

To sign into your Google account, tap Email or Phone
If you do not have a Google account, tap Create Account to set one up. If you would like to continue without adding a Google account, tap Skip
- 14.
Enter the email address or phone number associated with your Google account and then tap Next
- 15.
Enter the password for your Google account and then tap Next
- 16.
If you agree to the Terms of Service, tap I Agree
- 17.
If you would like to restore your data from the backup of a previous phone, tap the backup you would like to use. This will restore data such as apps, contacts and settings. In this example, we will set the phone up as new and select Don’t Restore

Select the method you would like to use to protect your phone. In this example, we will use Intelligent Scan which uses a combination of facial and iris recognition to unlock your phone

Tap Next

Tap Continue

You will need to set up a screen lock method before registering your biometric data. This will be used when you restart your phone or in instances when your face and irises can’t be scanned. In this example, we will select PIN
- 22.
Select whether you would like a PIN to be required before the phone starts up. In this example, we will select Do Not Require

Tap Continue
- 24.
Enter a PIN and then tap Continue. The PIN must be at least 4 digits long
- 25.
Re-enter the PIN and then tap OK. This must match the PIN entered in the previous step

Once you have read the disclaimer, scroll down and tap Next

Tap Continue

Select if you are wearing glasses. If you wear glasses most of the time, put them on now for best results. If you do wear glasses, you will be asked to remove them part way through the face scan

Tap Continue

Hold the phone in such a way that your face is framed within the box and wait for your face to be scanned successfully
- 31.
Once your face has been registered, position the phone so that your eyes are within the two circles and wait for your irises to be scanned
- 32.
Tap Next

If you would like to set up Google Assistant, tap Next
- 34.
If you agree to the terms of service, scroll down and tap I Agree
- 35.
Select the apps you would like to install and then tap OK. The selected apps will be downloaded when Wi-Fi is available

Select the additional apps you would like to download and then tap Next
- 37.
If you would like to connect to your Samsung account, tap Sign In
If you do not have a Samsung account, tap Create Account to set one up. If you would like to continue without adding a Samsung account, tap Skip

Enter the email address or phone number associated with your Samsung account and then tap Password
- 39.
Enter your password and then tap Sign In
- 40.
If you agree to the terms and conditions, tap I agree to all
- 41.
Tap Agree
- 42.
Tap Next
- 43.
Select the data you would like to restore from a previous backup and then tap Restore
- 44.
Tap Finish to complete the setup
