Using the Fingerprint Scanner

The fingerprint scanner is used to unlock the phone and to confirm your identity in certain apps or features. In some instances your fingerprint cannot be used so you must also set up a PIN, password or pattern

Swipe down from the top of the screen

Tap the Settings icon

Tap Biometrics and Security
- 4.
Tap Fingerprint Scanner
- 5.
Tap Continue
- 6.
Select a secure screen lock type. In this example, we will select PIN
If you have already created a secure lock type, you can skip to step 9
- 7.
Enter a PIN and then tap Continue. The PIN must be between 4 and 16 digits
- 8.
Re-enter the PIN and then tap OK. This must match the PIN entered in the previous step
- 9.
Swipe your finger down across the fingerprint scanner to register your fingerprint
- 10.
If you would like to register more fingerprints, tap Add and follow the same procedure. Otherwise tap Done

Place your finger on the fingerprint scanner to ensure it works
- 12.
Tap Fingerprint 1
- 13.
Enter a name for the fingerprint and then tap Rename
- 14.
To unlock the phone, place your finger on the fingerprint scanner
