  • 1. From the home screen, tap Google
  • 2. Swipe the icons to the left
  • 3. Tap Hangouts
  • 4. Swipe the screen to the left
  • 5. Tap the Contacts icon
  • 6. Tap the contact you would like to start a Hangout with
    You can only video message contacts who are in your Google+ circles
  • 7. Tap the Video Call icon
  • 8. When the contacts answers the video call, their video will be displayed in the bottom right of the screen
  • 9. To view video controls, tap the screen
  • 10. To mute the video call, tap the Mute icon
  • 11. Tap the Mute icon to unmute the call
  • 12. To stop your video, tap the Camcorder icon
  • 13. Tap the Camcorder icon again to resume showing your video
  • 14. To switch to the rear-facing camera, tap the Switch Camera icon
  • 15. Tap the Switch Camera icon to revert to the front-facing camera
  • 16. To send a message, tap the arrow beside the contact's name
  • 17. Tap Send Hangouts Message
  • 18. Enter the text of the message and then tap the Send icon
  • 19. Tap Ongoing Call to return to the call
  • 20. Tap the End Call icon to finish the call
