  • 1. Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers
  • 2. Tap the Settings icon
  • 3. Scroll down and tap Security
    If you already have an unlock method set up, you can skip to step 10
  • 4. Tap Screen Lock
  • 5. Tap your desired lock method. In this example, we will select PIN
  • 6. If you would like a PIN to be required when you turn your phone on, tap Require PIN to start device
  • 7. Tap Continue
  • 8. Enter a PIN and then tap Continue
  • 9. Re-enter your PIN and then tap OK
  • 10. Select what notifications you would like displayed on the lock screen. In this example, we will select Don’t show notifications at all
  • 11. Tap Done
  • 12. Tap Smart Lock
  • 13. Enter your PIN and then tap Next
  • 14. Tap Got It
  • 15. Tap Trusted Places
  • 16. Tap the location you wish to set as a trusted location. The Home and Work locations will be determined by Google Maps.
  • 17. Tap Turn on this location
  • 18. Tap OK
  • 19. To add a trusted location, tap Add Trusted Place
  • 20. Tap the Search icon
  • 21. Enter the address you wish to add and then tap the Search icon
  • 22. Tap the address to set it as a trusted location
  • 23. Tap OK
  • 24. As long as the phone remains within 80 metres of a trusted location, it will remain unlocked
  • 25. If you would like to manually lock the phone, press the Power/Lock Key
  • 26. Tap the Lock icon
  • 27. To unlock the phone, press the Power/Lock Key again
  • 28. Swipe the screen in any direction
  • 29. Enter your PIN and then tap the check mark
