Using Touch ID

Touch ID uses your fingerprint to unlock the phone and to confirm your identity in certain apps or features. In some instances, your fingerprint cannot be used so you must also set up a passcode

From the home screen, tap Settings
- 2.
Scroll down and tap Touch ID & Passcode
- 3.
Tap Add a Fingerprint…
- 4.
Place a finger on the Home Button
- 5.
Continue to lift and place your finger on the Home Button
- 6.
Adjust your grip and then tap Continue
- 7.
Place the edges of your finger on the Home Button until the entirety of your fingerprint has been saved
- 8.
Tap Continue
- 9.
Enter a passcode. This will be used in the event that Touch ID can’t verify your fingerprint or additional verification is required
If you have already set up a passcode, you can skip to step 11
- 10.
Re-enter the passcode
- 11.
If required, enter the password for your Apple ID and then tap Continue
- 12.
If you would like to add another fingerprint, tap Add a Fingerprint and repeat the process
- 13.
To rename the fingerprint, tap Finger 1
- 14.
Enter a name for the fingerprint and then tap Done
- 15.
To unlock the phone, press the Home Button
