  • 1. Swipe down from the top of the screen
  • 2. Tap the Settings icon
  • 3. Scroll down and tap Lock Screen and Security
  • 4. Tap Fingerprints
  • 5. Select your backup unlock method. This will be used in the event that your fingerprint can’t be read. In this example, we will select PIN
  • 6. Enter a PIN and then tap Continue
  • 7. Re-enter the PIN and then tap OK
  • 8. Place your finger on the Home Key and then lift it off
  • 9. Keep doing this until your fingerprint has been saved
  • 10. Select your lock screen notification preferences and then tap Done
  • 11. Place your finger on the Home Key to verify that it was saved successfully. The name of the fingerprint will flash blue to indicate that it has been saved
  • 12. If you would like to add more fingerprints, tap Add Fingerprint
  • 13. To name a fingerprint, tap its name
  • 14. Enter a name for the fingerprint and then tap Rename
  • 15. When your phone locks, press the Home Key with one of the fingers whose print has been saved to unlock the phone
