  • 1. Swipe down from the top of the screen
  • 2. Tap the Settings icon
  • 3. Scroll down and tap Lock Screen and Security
  • 4. Tap Screen Lock Type
    If you already have an unlock method set up, you will need to enter it now
  • 5. Tap Fingerprints
  • 6. Place your finger on the Home Key and then lift it off
  • 7. Continue doing this until the process is complete. Make sure that your finger covers the entire Home Key each time. For best results, shift your thumb slightly each time so that all of your fingerprint is recorded
  • 8. Enter a backup password and then tap Continue. This is used in the event that your fingerprint can't be read
  • 9. Re-enter your password and then tap OK
  • 10. If you would like to add more fingerprints, tap Fingerprints
  • 11. Place the finger that you have already saved on the Home Key
  • 12. Tap Add Fingerprint and follow the same process
  • 13. When the phone locks, press the Power/Lock Key
  • 14. Place your finger on the Home Key. The phone will unlock
  • 15. If your fingerprint can't be read, tap Backup Password and enter your password
