    Swipe down from the top of the screen

    Tap the Settings icon

  • 3.

    Tap Lock Screen and Security

  • 4.

    Tap Fingerprint Scanner

  • 5.

    Tap Continue

  • 6.

    Tap an alternate unlock method. This is used in case your fingerprint can’t be read or for security reasons, can’t be used. In this example, we will select PIN

    Enter a PIN and then tap Continue

  • 8.

    Re-enter the PIN and then tap OK

  • 9.

    Place a finger on the fingerprint sensor

  • 10.

    Lift and replace your finger until the fingerprint has been completely added

  • 11.

    If you would like to add a second fingerprint, tap Add. Otherwise tap Done

  • 12.

    Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor to test that it has been registered successfully

  • 13.

    Select your lock screen notification preferences and then tap Done

  • 14.

    To rename a fingerprint, tap Fingerprint 1

  • 15.

    Enter a name for it and then tap Rename

  • 16.

    When your phone locks, place your finger on the fingerprint sensor to unlock it
