  • 1. From the home screen, tap Settings
    If you already have an unlock method set up, you can skip to step 12
  • 2. Tap Display
  • 3. Tap Lock Screen
  • 4. Tap Select Screen Lock
  • 5. Select a screen unlock method for instances when your fingerprint can’t be read. In this example, we will select PIN
  • 6. Enter a PIN and then tap Next
  • 7. Confirm the PIN and then tap OK
  • 8. Select if you would like notifications displayed on the home screen. We will select Hide All Notifications
  • 9. Tap OK
  • 10. Tap Smart Lock
  • 11. Enter your PIN and then tap OK
  • 12. Tap Got It
  • 13. Tap Trusted Places
  • 14. Tap the location you wish to set as a trusted location. The Home and Work locations will be determined by Google Maps
  • 15. Tap Turn on this location
  • 16. Tap OK
  • 17. To add a trusted location, tap Add Trusted Place
  • 18. Tap the Search icon
  • 19. Enter the address you wish to add and then tap the Search icon
  • 20. Tap the address to set it as a trusted location
  • 21. Tap OK
  • 22. As long as the phone remains within 80 metres of a trusted location, it will remain unlocked
  • 23. If you would like to manually lock the phone, press the Power/Lock Key
  • 24. Tap the Lock icon
  • 25. To unlock the phone, press the Power/Lock Key again
  • 26. Enter your PIN and then tap OK
