  • Fingerprint unlock uses your fingerprint to unlock the phone and to confirm your identity in certain apps or features. In some instances, your fingerprint cannot be used so you must also set up a PIN, password or pattern

    Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers

    Tap the Settings icon

  • 3.

    Tap Security & Location

  • 4.

    Tap Nexus Imprint

  • 5.

    Tap Next

  • 6.

    Select your backup screen lock. In this example, we will choose Nexus Imprint + PIN

  • 7.

    Enter a PIN and then tap Next

  • 8.

    Re-enter the PIN and then tap Confirm

  • 9.

    Select your lock screen notification preferences and then tap Done

  • 10.

    Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor

  • 11.

    Lift and replace your finger until your fingerprint is fully read

  • 12.

    If you would like to add more fingerprints, tap Add Another. Otherwise, tap Done

  • 13.

    Tap Nexus Imprint

  • 14.

    Enter your PIN and then tap the arrow on the keyboard

  • 15.

    Tap Finger 1

  • 16.

    Enter a name for the finger and then tap OK

  • 17.

    To unlock the phone, place your finger on the fingerprint sensor
